Sustainability

Along with Transwestern, DRI is taking action to reduce its environmental footprint by educating team members and providing clients with sustainable energy efficient solutions for real estate. Both DRI and Transwestern have proactively embraced the ENERGY STAR® benchmarking program, as well as the LEED® Green Building Rating System™, to integrate sustainable building and operational measures into standard business practices.

Transwestern, an ENERGY STAR® partner since 1999, was recently awarded the 2008 ENERGY STAR® Sustained Excellence Award by the EPA. Transwestern was previously recognized in 2004 and 2005 as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year and in 2006 and 2007 as a Sustained Excellence recipient, making Transwestern the only third-party real estate services firm to achieve both designations.

There is an inherent responsibility as a developer to minimize the use of non-renewable resources in the global marketplace. DRI has committed that all future principle developments will be LEED® certified.

LEED® Accredited Professionals:

LEED® Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED® Certification process. LEED® Accredited Professionals (LEED® APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED® Green Building Rating System. Of the 46,000+ LEED® APs worldwide, there are currently only 15 LEED® APs working for developers in Washington, DC. DRI is home to one of these unique individuals, with more to come. DRI is experienced in the LEED® certification process and provides the expertise necessary to enhance the value of LEED® projects.
